HISTORY

The Nebraska Infrastructure Protection Conference (NIPC) was established in 2005 with support from the offices of Nebraska’s Lieutenant Governor & US Attorney, District of Nebraska.

The Nebraska Infrastructure Protection Conference was originally established to:

  • Serve as a collaborative forum of stakeholders who play a role in Homeland Security and the protection of Nebraska’s critical infrastructures.
  • Involve government, industry, law enforcement, emergency managers and responders, academia and key subject matter experts.
  • Support the infrastructure protection efforts of Nebraska’s Lieutenant Governor, as the State’s Homeland Security Director and the U.S. Attorney for the District of Nebraska.
  • Serve as a networking and outreach organization, bringing together Nebraska’s public and private organizations with the common goal of protecting our communities and infrastructures.

These goals have remained constant through the years and continue to be a focus of the Council.

2005 marked the first year of a Nebraska Infrastructure Protection Conference. Over 200 representatives from both public and private entities gathered in Kearney with the goal of increasing the State’s readiness of a catastrophic event.

Past conferences have incorporated exercises on pandemic influenza, a terrorist attack on infrastructures, and an agriculture disease outbreak, along with discussions on cyber threats, current terrorist attacks and recent disasters.  Participants have taken away lessons learned from real life disasters, ideas from discussion based exercises and contacts from both private and public entities.

We are excited you have chosen to visit our site and would encourage you to attend the upcoming Nebraska Critical Infrastructure Protection Conference.
